How It's Made: Recycled Leggings

Posted by Heidi Denessen on

So I thought you guys might be interested in how our leggings are made. Here is a step-by-step look from plastic bottle to snazzy printed legging. We are always striving to source the most sustainable fabrics that are also printable, durable and high performance.
Check it out...
"Who knew it could go from that to this!" "Here's how it's done. Plastic bottles labeled with the #1 on the bottom are the same chemistry make-up as polyester, which is called PET. PET bottle chips and flakes are made into REPREVE fiber, which is then woven into the Poly Spandex fabric that we make our leggings out of." "What's even cooler is that our Poly Spandex is treated with ChitoSante - a new environmentally friendly product that is made from crab and/or shrimp shells. It gives the fabric anti-bacterial, odor resistant, breathable and wicking super-powers. Wha?? How awesome is that." "So now you know how it's done. We think it's important for you to know where your clothing comes from and will continue to keep you posted in our How It's Made series.
